"the King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' -Matthew 25:40
on july 21st, i made my way back to el salvador with my dad for the fifth year in a row! but this time, we brought ricky along and i was so excited! i was also happy to see my aunt connie for the 3rd year in a row, and lots of other returners. :) every year we travel to ES for a medical mission trip. i always bring my camera along, but this year, i definitely didn't take as many pictures as usual. thanks to my friend garrett, i have a lot of photos from the trip, so i hope you enjoy!
first, here is the hotel we stayed in while in san salvador the first night. we arrived late saturday night and then went to the local church for a service before traveling to san miguel.
here is one of the guards who stayed with us all week long. girl power!
everyone on the bus!
blurry. but so happy to be in el salvador with my honey!
church.
after the service, we caught up with old friends and met some of the members of the church. it was so good to see familiar faces!
dad and ricky even learned a little spanish at church.
next we went back to the hotel for lunch before the long bus ride to san miguel. it was a beautiful hotel! 3 or 4 hours later, we were in san miguel.
the next morning was our first day at the clinic! we got up bright and early for bible studies, devotionals, and a yummy breakfast. then we were back on the bus headed to the clinic!
not only did we have lots of medicine, bibles, and love to give, but also flip flops! woo!
the host church in san miguel welcomed us with a huge sign and lots of hugs.
we didn't waste any time - we started seeing patients within an hour!
ricky and i spent most of the week in the eyeglass clinic. we saw a majority of the patients that came through the clinic and probably gave out over 2,000 pairs of glasses/sunglasses. crazy!
dad was always hard at work at his ENT station.

there was also an awesome childrens service held everyday. the children would play games and learn about the story of Jesus.

physical therapy.
this lady was one of the sweetest people ive ever met. i loved getting the opportunity to help her find some reading glasses. its moments like these that remind you why youre really there.
this is a popular meal for el salvadorans. its never been my favorite, but i dont feel like ive had a true el salvador experience without eating them at least a few times. papusas!!
rodrigo came to visit for a couple days! it was so good to see him!
another sweet old woman. she had so much history in her face. i love these pictures.
praying with the patients.
my dad is so awesome!
love taking pictures of these sweet little faces.
i realize there isnt much of an order to these pictures. just a collection of moments throughout the week! this is about halfway through the week, so im going to pause here. but stay tuned for the rest of the pictures coming soon!
