"but we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us." -2 Corinthians 4:7

yesterday at holden beach there were a lot of thunderstorms, off and on, all day. therefore, i didn't take many pictures. instead, i spent most of the day either reading, napping, or playing games with the family. needless to say, all i have from yesterday is a few pictures of brooks. but hey, everybody likes a few pictures of the little beach bum.

the little things

"and God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." -2 Corinthians 9:8

tuesday began in a wonderful way: with waffles!!! im officially obsessed with moms new waffle maker mmmmmm!

brooks and chris were hanging out, watching le tour de france.

check out the view from our kitchen window! awesome.

after breakfast, mom and i took a trip to ludlum's produce market.

in case you were wondering, boiled peanuts are DISGUSTING. we got some and tried them - and i almost vomited. they were sort of like cold slimy bugs.

after we got home, it was pool time again! here is brooks climbing up the stairs in his pool clothes.

this is the new floating car that brooks got for playing in the pool.

here are some more pictures from the rest of the day with little man. :)

here is lauren doing what she loves.

sweat once a day

"be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances." -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

monday was a day filled with exercise in so many different ways. we sent brooks outside to test the weather for us and when he replied with, "waaaaaah ninininini," we knew it was going to be a beautiful day!

first, brooks got fastened into his stroller.

then meredith and i took him for a walk to the holden beach bridge and back.

meanwhile, dad was doing what he loves - reading and studying on the deck.

chris and lauren headed out on their bikes.

later that afternoon, dad, lauren, and chris played tennis on the local courts.

yay dad!

chris for the win.

serena williams better watch out.

after an exercise-overload, we all decided to head to the pool to relax for the afternoon. nice tan lines, pops.

don't worry, i brought my nina towel with me.

our pre-dinner snack. (this blog makes it seem like my family is obsessed with cupcakes. we dont really eat them that often, but apparently in the past month or so, theyve been a popular choice)

here brooks is getting his exercise for the day.

so much lovin on brooksy

interesting...

and when we couldn't figure out where brooks went... we found him in mimi's suitcase.

holden beachin' it

"may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer." -Psalm 19:14

i went to bed pretty early on saturday night after a long day, and so i was able to wake up and catch the beautiful sunrise on sunday morning!

very soon thereafter, brooks was also awake and he kept me occupied for the rest of the morning.

after lunch, we headed out to the pool. brooks absolutely loves the water - go figure.

lauren loves relaxing in the sun.

brooks had his own umbrella crew. he is also really great at giving high fives!

after some pool time, we decided to go to the beach - here is the sand path that we followed to get there.

brooks was immediately trying to eat the sand. yum

the beach was absolutely gorgeous - especially the sky. plus, it was low tide and we were able to walk out on the sand bars. so cool!

and of course little man was loving all of it.

after the beach, we all headed back to the house. brooks went down for a nap, meredith worked on her photo album, and the rest of us hung out on the couches.

dad showed up around dinner time - brooks was so excited to see his pops!

this is his monkey face. "brooks what does a monkey say?" "hooo hooo hooo"
