el sal: part two

"go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and I am with you always, even to the end of the age." -Matthew 28:18-20

alright, so we left off around day 3 at the clinic. and its lunch time! fajitas mmm!

after the clinic closed on wednesday, we stayed for a service held by the host church. we sang songs in english and spanish, and then heard from dr. andy lamb and the pastors of the church.
here is a picture of the group back at the hotel the next morning. there were even decorations waiting for us! :)
meanwhile, back at the clinic...day four and more precious little babies!
i told this lady that i loved her hair bow. and you know what she did? she took it right out of her hair and gave it to me! el salvadorans are literally the most gracious people ive ever met!
alright, here is a random assortment of photos. (many were taken by garrett frazier, so thanks garrett!)
on thursday night, after clinic, we got to go to a local country club to play some soccer and basketball and also go swimming! we were so excited and the club was gorgeous!
the next morning, we packed up our bags and got ready for our final day at the clinic. ricky and i got a quick picture with our awesome guards.
last day at the clinic!! the eyeglass team ROCKS! (this picture is missing a lot of them)
a few of our team members decided to participate in the childrens drama on the last day.
love my daddy!
so glad my hubby-to-be could experience this trip with me!
after all the last patients had been seen, everyone met together for one last service and goodbye ceremony.
felix and some of the other translators had prepared some special skits for us. they were incredibly powerful stories.
next, they called each of the GHO team members by name to receive a special gift: an el salvadoran scarf!
then the GHO team had a little surprise for the el salvadorans.
dr. andy lamb called up a few of the leaders and some of the GHO team to stand on stage. next, one at a time, we got down and cleaned the el salvadorans' feet, just as Jesus did. we wanted to show them that they had given us so much this week. they served us so much, and we wanted to serve them back. it was an extremely emotional time for everyone in the room. i was personally very touched and so thankful to have had the chance to watch the feet of ana moran, a dear sister in Christ from el salvador.
that night, we traveled the 3 hour trip back to san salvador. i left my blue nike tennis shoes on the bus that night, RIP blue shoes. the next morning, we headed up to the volcano to tour.
the crater of the volcano was huge!
God creates amazing things.
we werent sure why, but someone had spelled out "JoJo" in the middle of the crater. last time i visited the volcano, it said something like "el salvador amo Jesus" - guess it changes a lot ha!
loved sharing this day with awesome friends.
after the volcano, we went to lunch at a place called las brumas, about halfway down the mountain, overlooking an amazing view.
we ate steak, corn, potato, beans, and a delicious brownie sundae for dessert.
after lunch, we stopped by the bizarre (outside shopping area that looks like a flea market with all handmade el salvadoran things to buy).
then we came back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and rest. the place we met for dinner was the same place we were last year, though im not sure the name. whats important is that we got to have pupusas again for dinner! woo!

me and ricky - feeling so full and blessed after an amazing week!! we love el salvador so much! thank you Lord for the chance to go there again!
by the way, here is a picture of the final count for each day and how many patients were saved during the week. pretty amazing. praise Jesus!! (1,755 patients seen this week. 209 saved, not including those that were already Christians).
